Welcome to 2012
Welcome to Our Year of Higher Grounds
The year 2011 is come to a close while the year 2012 is here. We give all the praise to Lord Almighty who has blessed us with all the heavenly blessings and preserved our lives. As we get into the New Year, let us give thanks for the accomplishments and failures and move on. Many times, we allow the issues of the past to hinder us from moving forward. The Lord has promised that 2012 is going to be a year of attaining higher grounds. Higher grounds are reached by people who look upwards and forwards not downwards and backwards. Apostle Paul said “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil; 3vs 13-14
If you had great success in 2011, bless the Lord but don’t forget that there are higher heights to attain, so do not spend all your time this year 2012, looking and thinking of your exploits of 2011, you will miss the greater exploits of this year 2012. Therefore move on to higher grounds, Like the Hymnologist, our constant aim should be higher grounds. Should the enemy come to show you the picture of your great past achievements, fine but don’t dwell there because there is much more ahead, the more time you spend celebrating and congratulating yourself for the past, the more you delay yourself from further accomplishments.
Interesting to know that God has not placed limitations on any of His children, not even the sky or thrones are our limits. His presence is our limit. As long as there is life, we have room to improve on whatever we have; don't forget the popular saying "The best is yet to come". So in 2012, God is calling you to a higher ground, new heights and new dimension. He is saying, look up to me; don't look down to where you are coming from or where you have been. I will help you climb up to your new height. The writer of Hebrew calls all of us irrespective of our background or achievement to look unto Jesus. “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" heb 12:2. Apostle Paul in his letter to the Colossians puts it this way. “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" Col 3:2.
All these indicate that there is no level we cannot reach and there is no mountain we cannot climb when we wholly depend on our Master and Savior Jesus Christ. Therefore, you must;
a. Guide your heart from doubt and fear and believe God.
b. Get away from those who doubt God ability and fear that the will fail.
c. Trust God and His power to work in you and through you to achieve your goal.
d. Let your constant prayer and aim be on your higher ground.
e. Define your higher ground,
i spiritual level
ii Financial
iii Marriage and family
iv social /Political
v Academics
And a whole lot of other pressing issues of life. With these you will be able to evaluate yourself and appreciate the wonderful doings of the Lord in and around you. I want to assure you that our father has made adequate provision to take you to a higher ground in 2012
Your responsibility will be to pray as never before, Study the word and work hard.
Happy New Year.
